History


Chingaza National Park is located on the Cordillera Oriental of Andes in Colombia. Its surface is part of the Cundinamarca and Meta Departments. It was created on May 1977 and approved by resolution No. 154 of 6 June on the same year. It extends alone the jurisdiction of the municipalities of La Calera, Fomeque, Guasca and San Juanito.

Location: Chingaza National Park is located in the Eastern Cordillera of the Andes, northeast of Bogota DC in the departments of Cundinamarca and Meta.

Highways:

1. Bogotá - La Calera - Retén Piedras Gordas: From the village of La Calera 1 km route Guasca, right side is the road (unpaved) road to catch Piedras Gordas (20 km): vehicles can be left here. At this point officials are National Parks which will guide you on a walk with duration of 6 hours..





2. Bogota - La Calera - GuascaBefore reaching the town of Guasca at Km 45, there is a dirt road alongside a fenceright where information indicating the route to follow to get thepost Siecha care ,where the officials of the National Parks guided by a trail of about 4 hours of travel. Route recommended only for four wheel drive.





Special Attractions:
This park has its own unique flora of the fells and a varied fauna that can be can enjoy see and take pictures along the travel of the three ways of environmental interpretation trails designed for the enjoyment and discovery: "the grove", "laguna seca" and "suasi. " most of the area for ecotourism is very cold, ideal for long walks, and also due to fog, solar radiation is low.

also, the park has three spectacular viewpoints, the first near "the grove", which allows a magnificent view of the entire mountain area, the second, known as "ye", which offers an unbeatable view of lake chingaza in its entirety, and the third, called "el mirador of the condors", very near where these birds were released in the restocking program of this kind, and from which it is possible to see at times clear.











Food and Lodging
While not currently serving, the park has a warm shelter infrastructure for visitors andhas one of the most modern camping areas in South America, where every parkingspace and light is independent and have restrooms and drinking water services hotwater showers. Since the stay and the park is only one day, visitors must bring theirown food that requires no cooking, preferably.
